The Last Supper (Anthotype)

The Last Supper anthotype uses berbere, a Ethiopian spice blend central to Habesha cuisine, combined with turmeric for its photosensitivity. This piece transforms spices into a photographic medium, creating something that looks and smells distinctly like Ethiopian food while re-interpolating Orthodox iconography. Mounted on a repeat screen print of meskel dress patterns I scaned tradiitonal clothing and digitally collaged.
